- Abstract: The fruits of Ribes stenocarpum Maxim. (RSM) from eight origins in Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau were used to quantify the contents of total polysaccharides (TP), total flavonoids (TF), titratable acids (TA), total triterpene acids (TTA), fruit oil (FO) and vitamin C (VC). Multivariate comparative analysis was used to investigate the relationship between the most important components and the antibacterial activity of the samples and the ecogeographic factors. The results revealed that, in all samples from different habitats, the highest TP content was 23.91 g/100 g dw, the highest TF content was 5.25 g/100 g dw, the highest TA content was 23.72 g/100 g dw, the highest TTA content was 2.45 g/100 g dw, the highest FO content was 7.36 g/100 g dw, and the highest VC content was 0.08 g/100 g dw. Ecogeographical factors had significant effects on the accumulation of the main components of the samples; antibacterial activity was closely related to the geographical distribution of origin. This study primarily based on a multivariate comparative analysis method, which can provide a basis for the selection of raw material origin for the artificial cultivation, preferential breeding and extraction of natural active substances of RSM. Graphical abstract: Image 1 Highlights: Features of chemical components of samples from different origins varied. Ribes stenocarpum Maxim. has powerful antibacterial activity. Ecogeographic factors affect components and antibacterial activity.Abstract: The fruits of Ribes stenocarpum Maxim.
