- Abstract: Reducing respiratory intensity of fruits can effectively prolong their postharvest storage time. In this work, Cu3 (BTC)2 /PVC mixed matrix membrane (MMM) have been synthesized via a facile method and used for pomegranate seeds storage. Structural and properties of the Cu3 (BTC)2 /PVC MMM were investigated. Results revealed that Cu3 (BTC)2 /PVC MMM exhibit enhanced moisture permeability, hydrophilicity, and CO2 permeability relative to the PVC membrane. Meanwhile, CO2 /O2 selection coefficient of Cu3 (BTC)2 /PVC MMM was higher than PVC membrane because that CO2 permeability was improved. Based on these results, weight loss of pomegranate seeds packed with Cu3 (BTC)2 /PVC MMM was reduced by inhibiting respiratory intensity. Meanwhile, Cu3 (BTC)2 /PVC MMM hindered the decline of total phenol content and nutrient content. We believe that our strategy demonstrate here paves the way to the design and synthesis of novel MMM for the preservation of fresh fruits and vegetables. Practical Applications: Mixed matrix membrane has been recognized widely used in fruits and vegetables preservation.
