- Highlights: Post-anthesis foliar nitrogen can increase grain protein concentration in wheat. Foliar nitrogen was applied under elevated CO2 and irrigated conditions. Foliar nitrogen increased grain protein concentration under irrigated conditions. Grain protein concentration was not affected by foliar nitrogen under elevated CO2 .
