- <abstract abstract-type="author-highlights" id="abs0005"> <title id="sect0005">Highlights</title> <sec> <p id="spar0005"> <list id="lis0005"> <list-item id="lsti0005"> <label></label> <p id="par0005">Strain <italic>Yarrowia lipolytica</italic> MK1 is a promising industrial host of erythritol production from glycerol.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0010"> <label></label> <p id="par0010">During RBC the strain <italic>Y. lipolytica</italic> MK1 was able to produce 224 g l<sup>−1</sup> erythritol.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0015"> <label></label> <p id="par0015">UV mutation caused limitation of by-product formation below 2.3%.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0020"> <label></label> <p id="par0020">The <italic>Y. lipolytica</italic> MK1 biomass contains 80% of unsaturated fatty acids in the total fatty acids pool.</p> </list-item> </list> </p> </sec> </abstract>
