<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>Make the switch</bold>: The three‐enzyme cassette MarG/H/I is responsible for stereospecific biosynthesis of β‐methyltryptophan from <sc>L</sc>‐tryptophan (<bold>1</bold>). MarG/I convert <bold>1</bold> into (<italic>2S</italic>, <italic>3R</italic>)‐β‐methyltryptophan, while MarG/I combined with MarH convert <bold>1</bold> into (<italic>2S</italic>, <italic>3S</italic>)‐β‐methyltryptophan.
