Abstract

Abstract: A heteronuclear Tb-Al complex (1 ) was obtained by pyridine-2, 6-dicarboxylic acid (H2 PDA), AlCl3 and Tb4 O7 under hydrothermal condition. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that 1 is an ion-pair and consists of [Al(H2 O)6 ] 3+ cation and [Tb(PDA)3 ] 3- anion; the [Al(H2 O)6 ] 3+ cations and [Tb(PDA)3 ] 3- anions are further connected by hydrogen bonds to construct a 3D NaCl-like topology. Lattice water molecules in 1 fabricate a cubic (H2 O)8 -octamer by hydrogen bonds, which is located in the void of 1 . Luminescent property indicates efficient energy transfer from PDA 3- ligand to Tb 3+ in 1, exhibiting the typical green emission of Tb 3+ in the visible region. Graphical Abstract: UF0001
