- Highlights: Perovskite La0.4 Ca0.4 Nix Ti1-x O3-δ (x = 0.03 to 0.09) with high purrity in orthorhombic Ibmm space group was obtained. Ethanol steam reforming over reduced La0.4 Ca0.4 Nix Ti1-x O3-δ showed high conversion of alcohol. Exsolved Ni particles from La0.4 Ca0.4 Ni0.09 Ti0.91 O2.91 had excellent resistance towards agglomeration and carbon deposition even at 800 °C. Abstract: Ethanol steam reforming over supported nickel catalysts has become an attractive industrial hydrogen production process. In this work, A-site deficient titanate perovskites with different doping amount of Ni as B-site substitution, La0.4 Ca0.4 Nix Ti1-x O3-δ (x = 0.03, 0.06, 0.09), were synthesized by solid state method. Finely dispersed Ni nanoparticles were obtained by reduction in 5% hydrogen at 800 °C. Complete conversion of ethanol and a hydrogen yield of 70% was achieved on La0.4 Ca0.4 Ni0.09 Ti0.91 O2.91 at 800 °C with a steam/carbon ratio of 3 and a WHSV of 8.8 gethanol /(gcat ·h). SEM and TEM images of revealed that agglomeration of Ni nanoparticles was inhibited on post-ESR La0.4 Ca0.4 Ni0.09 Ti0.91 O2.91 catalyst, indicating a strong metal-support interface was formed via exsolution process. Meanwhile the resistance towards coking as well as its catalytic stability under high feedstock flowrate shows its significance as a potential reforming catalyst.
