Abstract

Abstract : INTRODUCTION: Visitation restriction during COVID19 hindered the provision of optimal care provision. The presence of attendants with the family has proven to be beneficial for the patient's recovery. The family of unconscious patients also liked to be updated periodically. We introduced the facility of video recording the patient and healthcare provider interaction that were made readily available for the patient and their family member. METHODS: We analyzed the number of videos recorded from July 2020 to Nov 2020. We also studied the change in the hospitals' HCAHPs scores during the time. RESULTS: In total, 34, 603 videos were recorded for the admitted patients, providing the details of daily progress. These videos received 44, 981 (129%) views and 13, 704 videos (39.6%) were shared with a total watch time of 1, 081.5 hours. From 7/20 to 11/20 an increasing trend was seen in HCAHPS scores for the hospital and an R2 of 0.26 was calculated. A qualitative analysis of patients comments about their care revealed that they found the videos "comforting", "communicate effectively", "helpful", "I do not need to call". CONCLUSIONS: This study shows the benefits of providing a video recording of daily follow-up of hospitalized patients. We report an increasing trend in the HCAHPS scores. Not only patients/caregivers were able to watch the videos but they were shared with loved ones as well.
