- Abstract: The deep-sea aquaculture cages usually consist of large steel frames and large-area fishing nets. The fishing nets are usually mounted on the frames. Under the action of waves, the frames may deflect with time. Then the boundaries of the fishing nets will change with time. In this paper, a nonlinear dynamic model of a large flexible fishing net under the combined excitations of waves and boundary deformations is developed, in which four different cases of boundary deformations are considered. The present model is numerically solved with the Runge-Kutta method. It is validated with the comparisons to experimental and simulation results. Based on the present model, the dynamic responses of a large fishing net under the action of waves and boundary deformations are analysed in detail. The results indicate that when the boundaries of the net are deforming with a large frequency, the vibrations of the net will be significantly affected, and the tensions of twines will largely increase, which is more easily to become failure.
