- Abstract: Halloysite nanotube (H.N.Ts) is emerging nanotubular reinforcement in the polymer matrix like polypropylene (PP). In this work, H.N.Ts is treated with sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and surface modification is established with FTIR spectroscopy. The H.N.Ts are dispersed in the PP matrix using the melt procession method. The incorporation of untreated and NaOH treated H.N.Ts influences the crystallization behavior and thermal stability. From, thermal studies observation, 3 wt% untreated H.N.Ts, and NaOH treated H.N.Ts can be reinforced in the PP matrix. Additionally, the 3 wt% NaOH treated H.N.Ts are well dispersed in the PP matrix as compared to 3 wt% H.N.Ts in the PP matrix. The mechanical properties enhancement is highest for the 3 wt% NaOH treated H.N.Ts filled PP nanocomposites in comparison with neat PP and H.N.Ts filled PP nanocomposites.
