Abstract

Abstract : Extreme climatic events are on the rise in Arctic regions and also outside the main growing season where they directly impact ecosystem functioning but also leave legacies for following seasons. These extreme events challenge organisms depending on strong predictable seasonal patterns. To understand the consequences of multiple seasonal extremes on Arctic ecosystem functioning there is a need for a better fundamental understanding of organisms and ecosystem processes outside the growing season.
