- Abstract : An energetic cocrystal N2 H5 N5 /PDO (2 : 1), which shows a lower sensitivity and lower hygroscopicity than N2 H5 N5 and detonation properties approaching those of RDX, was synthesized. Abstract : An energetic cocrystal of hydrazinium cyclo -pentazolate and pyrazine-1, 4-dioxide (2 : 1), N2 H5 N5 /PDO, was synthesized. The cocrystal, as characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR and Raman spectroscopy, XRD, and elemental analysis, has a higher density, lower sensitivity and lower hygroscopicity than N2 H5 N5 . Moreover, the calculated detonation velocity of N2 H5 N5 /PDO (8.735 km s −1 ) is comparable to that of RDX, and it is an improved high-performance energetic material.
