Abstract

Abstract: Organic-inorganic hybrid coatings (OIHCs) have attracted significant attention due to their superior properties by combing both the inorganic component and the organic component together. This type of coatings exhibit unique properties from both the inorganic nanomaterials and the organic polymers. The recent development of offshore wind power devices (OWPDs) sets up high requirements for corrosion protective coating materials. The application of OIHCs as protective coatings for OWPDs is still at its initial stage. This mini-review summarizes the recent strategies for the protective coatings for OWPDs and provides the outlook for the development of OIHCs as coating materials for OWPDs. The sol-gel synthetic methods, structural modification, functionalization and representative examples for OIHCs have been summarized and discussed.
