Abstract

Originally from Japan, Dr. Mitsunori Misawa is a professor of the Higher and Adult Education program in the Department of Leadership at the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences, at the University of Memphis in the United States. This paper introduces what led Dr. Misawa to study and work in the United States, how he came to pursue an academic career, what triggered him to be especially interested in Adult Education, and, finally, what motivated his unique approach to social justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people of color.
