Single-stage extremity reconstruction through the use of dermal matrices: the power of Integra® bilayer wound matrix in the face of medical comorbidities, patient preference and non-compliance
Abstract: We report 4 cases of extremity reconstruction using Bilayer Wound Matrix with plan to perform two-stage procedures. Patient preference or non-compliance led to single-stage reconstruction with wound re-epithelialization. In this setting, dermal matrices may be used as single-stage stand alone wound reconstruction procedures, even in patients with comorbid conditions.
