- Abstract: Substituted 5-phenyl-13-aryl-isoindolo[2, 1-a]quinoline dyes that exhibit two-photon absorption up to 375 GM have been synthesized via ruthenium-catalyzed ring-closing metathesis in tandem with a 1, 3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction. Graphical abstract: Synthesis of two-photon absorption (TPA) active dyes, 5-Phenyl-13-arylisolidolo[2, 1- a ]quinolines, with a GM value of 375 at σ = 970 nm, which is higher than fluorescein with a GM value of 26. Image 1 Highlights: Substituted 5-phenyl-13-aryl-isoindolo[2, 1- a ]quinoline dyes that exhibit two-photon absorption up to 375 GM have been developed. Substituted 5-phenyl-13-aryl-isoindolo[2, 1- a ]quinoline dyes showed good quantum yields. Novel 5-phenyl-13-aryl-isoindolo[2, 1- a ]quinoline dyes were synthesized using metathesis and 1, 3-dipolar cycloaddition.
