Abstract

Abstract: Understanding the complexities of global food trade requires an overarching framework with which to address its network and territorial topologies, while avoiding the duality. In this paper, I propose the framework of "border assemblages" to supplement and rework existing approaches to food regimes and global networks, focusing on the extraterritorial reach of the global food trade. Specifically, this paper highlights the (de‐/re‐) territorialization processes of the border assemblages involved in the formation of food geopolitics and geoeconomics in the global food trade amidst biosecurity and food safety crises.
