Abstract

Abstract : Pentabenzopentaaza[10]circulene, the largest hetero[ n ]circulene, has been synthesized by a fold‐in approach, as reported by Takayuki Tanaka and co‐workers in their Communication (e202116789) . The molecule exhibits a saddle‐distorted structure in the solid state, reminiscent of a camel's back. The dynamic behavior was analyzed experimentally and theoretically, revealing a low transition state for the saddle‐to‐saddle inversion. In contrast, a planar, star‐shaped conformer is energetically much higher, like a star in the sky.
