- Abstract: In blasting engineering research, the determination of blasting load is the basis and premise of explosion dynamic analysis. This article mainly focuses on the load descending period of borehole blasting. Deriving from the pressure attenuation of the detonation gas, based on the first law of the thermodynamics of the variable-mass thermodynamic system and the nonisentropic energy equation, the gas pressure relation equation is established and solved to get the analytical solution of the pressure in the borehole changes with time and coordinates. The numerical simulation is adopted to verify the analytical solution. At this point, the improvement of the numerical simulation under the two different scales using this analytical solution is discussed separately. In the small-scale numerical simulation, compared with the traditional method, the size of the model file is reduced by 50%, and the computation time is shortened by 90%. In the large-scale numerical simulation, the attenuation law of the blasting vibration velocity calculated with the variable-mass thermodynamic system method is evidently more consistent with the field test data comparing with the other traditional method.
