- Abstract: Animal fats are used as a biodiesel source for operating engines. In this work, pig fat oil is used as a substrate for producing biodiesel. B20 blend of the produced biodiesel is tested in a C.I engine. Titanium oxide nanoparticles were added as fuel additives with the blend. Addition of TiO2 nano additives enhanced the thermal efficiency of the engine upto 150 ppm of the biodiesel blend. 50 ppm and 100 ppm blends show lesser BSFC values and NOx emissions for the 200 ppm blend shows reduced values than other blends. Even the carbon emissions have also shown slightly lesser values on increasing the additives. The prepared blends of biodiesel can be used to obtain better performance and emission characteristics.
