Abstract

Abstract: In China, human activities like reclamation have increased at the unprecedented speed in the coastal areas in the last few decades. These activities can support economic development and also can reduce the benefits that could be accrued from the coastal ecosystems. Assessing and monitoring of the human-induced changes in the coastal areas requires efficient and multi-variate analysis of long-term earth observation data from different sources. In this research, we quantify the potential linkage between anthropogenic footprints and coastal vegetation change and also with changes in land surface temperature. The computation is implemented in Google Earth Engine (GEE), and the results from this work highlight the potential hot and cold spots of human-induced degradation of coastal ecosystems.
