- Abstract: Soil erosion is one of the world's most serious environmental problems, causing extensive loss of potentially productive soil and many accidents. The utilization of plant-mat geotextiles for the remediation of the soil erosion has attracted much attention in recent years. The plant-mat geotextiles showed better performance on water and soil conservation than most of other plant-mat geotextiles, the application status of palm-mat geotextiles in the main fields of slope protection, sand fixation and vegetation restoration was summarized. Moreover, the ecological profit on the road slope of the palm-mat geotextiles was also reviewed. The summary results of the existing researches indicate that plant-mat geotextiles is an effective soil conservation strategy with promising application prospect and ecological profit.
