- Abstract: This article studies the influence of a novel additive in prevention of asphaltene precipitation in the petroleum formation. N-phenylamino benzyl ethanol, an asphaltene inhibitor has been developed under laboratory conditions and characterized. This article also exhibits a novel approach to understand asphaltene precipitation, where wettability studies are carried out on crude oil aged core by injection of crude oil and asphaltene inhibitor, Crude oil under study has high apparent viscosity and high asphaltene content. The precipitation of solid asphaltene in the core was carried out by pumping the virgin crude oil and crude oil beneficiated with asphaltene inhibitors at 55 °C and 200–1600 psi. Experimental results showed enhanced flow rate of crude oil treated with synthesized additive as compared to commercial one.
