- Abstract: Nanofluids are used to augment the thermal performance of various devices. They have gained remarkable attention of the researchers worldwide in the various industrial applications due to their outstanding properties since previous two decades. The nanomaterial enhances various thermo-physical properties of working fluids like thermal conductivity, convection coefficient, viscosity and specific heat etc. the traditional fluids used so far as a working fluid were replaced by nanofluids such as molten salt, water, ethylene glycol and vegetable/engine oils. The thermophysical properties of the working fluid properties by using nanofluids were depends upon Reynolds number, Richardson number, and thermal conductivity of nanomaterial, flow rates, nanomaterial concentration and inlet temperature of fluid. In this review, ongoing research and development on thermo-physical properties of nanofluids in the thermal devices is summarized and to provide viewpoint for future research and development.
