- Abstract : In order to enhance charge-transport nanocrystal (NC) arrays, long and insulating ligands have to be replaced by short and electronically transparent ligands. Traditionally, benzene dithiol or mercaptopropionic acid have been frequently used as such surface ligands to overcome low charge-carrier mobility issues that affect colloidal NCs. However, the resulting devices usually exhibit a limited enhanced mobility of ~0.01 cm 2 /Vs. In this study, to realize a high charge-carrier mobility over 0.1 cm 2 /Vs, we demonstrate the utilization of atomic ligands such as halide anions (X -, X : Cl, Br, I) as electrically transparent ligands for lead chalcogenide NCs. We discuss the origin of such improved charge-transport behavior, which results from the introduction of atomic ligands, as well as various characterization results.
