- Abstract: The existing three typical models on pipe soil vertical interaction mainly consist of RQ model, AB model and ABY model. Without exception, each model comprises four fundamental phases of pipe soil interaction: no contact, initial penetration, uplift and re-penetration. Both RQ model and AB model can describe the above four phases, however, they give no idea of the cyclic weakening effect on soil mass. For ABY model, it can reflect the soil mass weakening changes and the pipeline slotting process, yet it may greatly underestimate the soil mass strength and then overestimate the buried depth of pipelines. This thesis proposes an improved model on pipe soil interaction. It adopts a more rational method to consider the weakening effect of soil strength. Furthermore, this model can take the pipeline slotting effect into account. Therefore, it is an optimized model to reflect the dynamic buried-depth change in the process of interaction between pipeline and soil mass.
