- Abstract: To obtain the bearing capacity factor of a high loess-filled foundation in Shaanxi Province, China, a serious of numerical calculations on a nonhomogeneous model were conducted using a unified elastoplastic finite difference method. It was found that the bearing capability factor Nc increases as the friction angle ratio ξφ and cohesive force ratio ξc . Furthermore, the bearing capacity of loess-filled foundation can be improved by increasing the degree of density and adding cementation in construction. As an example, during the construction of the high loess-filled foundation, the bearing capacity was improved by making the degree of density come to 0.93. In addition, the width and depth of the slide surface increase as the friction angle ratio ξφ and ξc
