Abstract

Abstract: Evacuating the occupants of a building during a seismic event influences their structural response. This phenomenon has been evaluated on bridges, continuous beams and platforms, which show significant changes in the performance of the structures. This research evaluates different cases applied to a building, where it seeks to identify the range of influence on structural performance and parameters that can be used in structure design methodologies. The main results of the structure analysis are: 1) the variation of the mass of the occupants, and 2) the variation of the structural response (base shear, periods and maximum drifts) for each case presented.
