- Highlights: Significant errors in Lourencetti et al. (2023) on thiamethoxam toxicity to bees. The acute oral toxicity of thiamethoxam to Apis mellifera is 5 ng/bee not 214 ng/bee. Using this data, honeybees show similar sensitivity to M. scutellaris . Honeybees are 6 to 8-fold more sensitive than T. angustula and S. postica . A risk assessment based on honeybees would be protective of these stingless bee species.
