- Abstract: The efficient detection of toxic substances is a very important task. Herein, a tripodal receptor TM employing three aroyl hydrazone moieties as binding sites has been designed and used for the selective determination of Hg 2+ and Br − . The TM shows AIE properties and could selectively relay fluorescent response for Hg 2+ and Br − . The detection limit (LOD) for Hg 2+ and Br − is found to be 4.95 × 10 −8 M and 1.7 × 10 −6 M. More interestingly, the TM could be used for fluorescent sensing Hg 2+ and Br − in living cells with high sensitivities. Graphical abstract: Tripodal aroyl hydrazone based AIE fluorescent sensor is fabricated and used to relay detection Hg 2+ and Br − in solution and living cells. Image 1 Highlights: A tripodal aroyl hydrazone fluorescent sensor for Hg 2+ and Br − . . Tripodal aroyl hydrazone could afford more stronger binding force for guest ions. The detection limit (LOD) for Hg 2+ is 4.95 × 10 −8 M. The sensor could relay fluorescent Hg 2+ and Br − in living cells.
