Abstract

Abstract: This review paper presents an overview of the available literature reporting problems of lower limb amputees regarding the liner and socket of their prostheses. It is critical to analyze these problems and the feedback of patients for a successful and human-centered design of prosthetics. This study aims to develop a relationship between the factors affecting the satisfaction of patients and to summarize the 3D-printing strategies adopted in socket and liner design and production. The advances in 3D-printing and printing materials create new opportunities in design, functionality, as well as comfort besides possibilities regarding individual customization.
