- Abstract : The Cover Feature demonstrates the manufacturing process of spruce‐wood‐derived hard carbon anodes, which can potentially act as a sustainable alternative to state‐of‐the‐art graphite. An electrochemical pre‐lithiation method is applied for the compensation of initial lithium losses, typically observed in hard carbon materials. As a result, full‐cells (NMC cathode) based on pre‐lithiated anodes show significantly improved performance, that is, first cycle efficiency, capacity, and cycle life compared to full‐cells comprising pristine anodes.
