- Abstract: In this paper, the scattering problem of an open cavity is considered. By use of the numerical solution to the scattering problem of a slit, we obtain the numerical Green function for the scattering problem of a cavity. Then the method of fundamental solutions (MFS) is formulated for solving the direct and inverse scattering problem of open cavity. For the direct problem we add the adaptive strategy and for the inverse problem we use the regularization. Comparing with the MFS using the traditional Green function, our method does not need the artificial boundary and fewer source points are used. Some computational examples are presented to show the effectiveness of our method.
