- Abstract: An effect of a heterogeneous matrix on a performance of lead-free composites based on ferroelectric ceramics is highlighted. Highly prolate aligned ceramic inclusions form 0–3 and quasi 1–3 structures that lead to improved parameters including the piezoelectric coefficient g 33 * and related energy-harvesting figures of merit. Relationships between the composite structure and energy-harvesting parameters are discussed for a composite wherein the 0–3 matrix contains spherical ceramic inclusions. A large anisotropy of two types of energy-harvesting figures of merit is achieved. Results on the evaluated effective parameters depending on microgeometric characteristics of composites are compared to experimental data.
