- Abstract: NiTi-based shape memory alloys are a part of various applications in the aerospace industry, civil structures, medical appliances, and automobiles. The distinguished properties of shape memory alloys include pseudoelasticity, damping capacity, bio functionality, biocompatibility, and prolonged fatigue life. These alloys have several drawbacks in strength at higher temperatures and sensitivity of material properties during fabrication. Conventional machining of NiTi-based shape memory alloys is very strenuous due to higher toughness, severe strain hardening, and fatigue hardening. The current study reviews the fabrication processes, types of cutting fluid, machining, and aging period of shape memory alloys.
