Abstract

Abstract: Prostate cancer is a heterogeneous disease with high incidence and mortality. The functional role of miR‐886 has been reported in various cancers and its dysregulation in prostate cancer was also found. Whether miR‐886 was involved in the development of prostate cancer remains unclear, which was explored. miR‐886 was evaluated in prostate cancer by RT‐qPCR, and its clinical value was also assessed. Additionally, the role of miR‐886 in prostate cancer cells was assessed by MTT and transwell assay. miR‐886 was upregulated and was associated with the Gleason score and TNM stage of prostate cancer patients. miR‐886 could predict the poor survival of patients. Moreover, miR‐886 was a tumour promoter, of which the upregulation significantly promoted major cellular processes of prostate cancer. miR‐886 mediated the disease development and predicted the clinical outcomes of patients. The knockdown of miR‐886 inhibits cellular processes of prostate cancer, which provides a novel therapeutic target.
