Abstract

Abstract : Artificial humic acids made from biomass in a hydrothermal process are a practical route to solubilize otherwise insoluble phosphorous species, as shown by F. Yang, M. Antonietti et al. in their Communication on page 18813 . The picture recalls a famous Chinese art piece, "The man who broke the mountains". It symbolizes in this context the crushing of phosphate rock to nutriate the flowers shown on the right side of the picture. The man represents the humic acid who breaks the rock, with patience and persistence, into little pieces.
