- Abstract : Sleep disturbance has been reported in up to 88%–98% of Parkinson's disease patients; various sleep disorders can present even before motor symptoms. Rapid eye movement sleep behaviour disorder (RBD), which can lead to violent dream enactment behaviour, has a prevalence in Parkinson's disease of 20% to 50% but best management of the condition is unclear. Here, the authors consider whether melatonin is an effective pharmacological option to manage RBD.
