- Abstract : Like a bow, PoFUT2 arms a peptide (arrow) and launches it once glycosylated with the help of a water environment. In their Research Article (e202213610), Ramón Hurtado‐Guerrero, Pedro Merino, and co‐workers show using QM/MM methods how the enzyme takes advantage of a high exposure of the active site, allowing water molecules to facilitate a pure SN 2 mechanism. The synergistic effect of an arginine residue and water molecules facilitates a smooth leaving of the pyrophosphate group.
