- Abstract: The effect of the heat treatments on the microstructure and corrosion behavior of PBF-LB Ti6Al4V is investigated. The different evolution processes including precipitation of the supersaturated V, decomposition of α' phase, formation of β phase, and recrystallization take place when the PBF-LB Ti6Al4V is treated at temperatures from 320 °C to 1020 °C. The electrochemical measurement illustrates that the existence of the galvanic effect between α and β phases deteriorates the corrosion resistance of PBF-LB Ti6Al4V in artificial saliva with 0–0.2 M NaF, while the opposite result is obtained in the case of 0.5 M NaF. Highlights: The thermodynamics and kinetics processes of microstructure evolution of PBF-LB Ti6Al4V during heat treatment are concluded. The opposite corrosion behavior of PBF-LB Ti6Al4V in the solution with 0 – 0.2 M, 0.5 M NaF is investigated. The relationship between microstructure and corrosion behavior is analyzed.
