Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to explore how students experienced the #EventCanvas methodology as part of an undergraduate, event management course incorporating the Event Design Collective, Young Professional Program at a public university in the United States. The #EventCanvas radically shifts the common routine of event planners and intentionally breaks the practice of jumping into event execution details such as the venue, décor, entertainment, etc. This study aimed to identify student's perceptions of event design practices pre and post course completion as compared to current scholarship in event management and examine students change in behavior. This research is of interest to both academic and industry partners focused on changing the event design landscape and developing the necessary knowledge and skills for successful student integration into the event management sector.
