Abstract

Abstract: COVID-19 is a type of disease that emerged at the end of 2019 and can cause respiratory system disorders, ranging from mild symptoms such as flu to severe symptoms such as pneumonia. According to data released by WHO, in October 2020, the fatality rate caused by COVID-19 in Indonesia was 3.5%. Long-distance sea transportation with a large passenger capacity, in a countrylike Indonesia, has the potential to be one of the main locations for the spread of COVID-19 virus. To obtain the proper information, a numerical CFD RANSE based simulation is carried out on aneconomy-class passenger deck. The deck has a size of 14.1 meters x 15 meter together with maximum capacity of 206 passengers. The CFD simulation involves 3 main components, namely, air inlet, air outlet and mouth inlet, and k-epsilon turbulence modelling is used because it predicts well far from theboundaries. Finally, the simulation is expected to reflect the real situation of indoor transmission in a sea transportation vehicle in order to reduce the victims and provide a mitigation plan due to the spread of virus.
