Abstract

Abstract : The cover image, designed by Dr. Chun‐Yen Liu, is a schematic of polymer beads dispersing cholesteric liquid crystals. In this manuscript, the authors demonstrate a novel design of liquid crystal displays via predesigned radially constructed polydopamine (PDA) particles. The synthesized PDA particles were modified with dimethyloctadecyl‐3‐(trimethoxysilyl)propyl ammonium chloride (DMOAP). Both PDA particles and surfacemodified PDA particles were used to disturb the order of the liquid crystal arrangement withan opaque appearance. Based on the results, a higher contrast of 82.2%, a lower threshold voltage of 2.4 V, and a fast response time of 7.7 ms were achieved. DOI: 10.1002/app.53037
