Abstract

Abstract: Glycals have been extensively utilized as a versatile building block in the constructions of C‐glycosides, branched sugars, and the total synthesis of natural products and biologically potent molecules. The versatility of glycals can be attributed to their easy availability and the presence of endocyclic ring oxygen in conjugation with the double bond. The inbuilt chirality further enhances its applicability in the chiral pool synthesis of natural products and pharmaceuticals. In this review, we have summarized the development made in the total synthesis of natural products and some medicinally relevant molecules from glycals. Abstract : The review describes the recent advances in the synthesis of natural products and medicinally important molecules from glycals.
