Abstract

Abstract : ( Br J Anaesth . 2020;124:670–675) Since COVID-19 has been declared an international public health emergency, clinical characteristics of COVID-19 infection, including pregnant women undergoing cesarean section, have been reported. However, there have not been reports on the perioperative characteristics or anesthetic management of infected patients undergoing surgery. Clinicians may be at high risk of infection during surgeries. This single-center, retrospective, observational cohort study was intended to describe experiences of performing spinal anesthesia in infected patients, report on the perioperative characteristics of patients with COVID-19, and report outcomes in patients who received spinal anesthesia, as well as describing the possible transmission rates in anesthetists administering spinal anesthesia.
