- Abstract: The composite photocatalyst composed of WO3 and Bi2 WO6 can play the synergistic effect between the two individual components. Herein, a WO3 /Bi2 WO6 heterogeneous material with high quality interface has been synthesized via situ growing Bi2 WO6 directly on the surface of WO3 nanoplates. The photocatalytic degradation efficiency of tetracycline (TC) for BWO‐3 reaches ≈92%, which is much higher than that of WO3 (≈27%) due to the coupling effect of WO3 and Bi2 WO6 . Electrochemical impedance and photocurrent measurements prove that WO3 /Bi2 WO6 heterogeneous material has decreased carriers' transfer resistance and higher photocurrent density, which endows its improved photocatalytic performance. Also, the radical trapping experiment proves that superoxide radical has great impacts on the degradation of TC. This work provides an efficient method for developing photocatalysts with excellent performance. Abstract : A heterogeneous WO3 /Bi2 WO6 hybrid with deposition of Bi2 WO6 onto WO3 nanoplates is prepared as a visible photocatalyst for photogradation of tetracycline (TC), the intimate interface interaction between WO3 and Bi2 WO6 substantially reduces the interface transfer resistance and therefore contributes to the improved photocatalytic performance for TC degradation.
