- Abstract: This is a critical autoethnography which seeks to weave through the identities of teacher and mother during COVID-19. Using Bronfenbrenner's Bioecological Systems Theory to place the experiences of the authors within the concepts of resilience and thriving, coding results suggested that both authors experienced similar emotions and disruptions to their bioecological systems when trying to navigate the pandemic. These emotions included feelings of uncertainty regarding change. Yet, the data also revealed the presence of support groups such as families, communities, and teacher-student relationships needed for thriving during adverse or stressful events. Suggestions for future research include understanding the mental health of similar scholars, surveying scholars to see how their practices have changed during COVID-19, and recommendations for maintenance of relationships within the interrelated social systems of family, school, and academia.
