- Abstract: Combination of solid solution construction and co-catalyst coupling was rationally developed and applied for the simultaneous photocatalytic process of hydrogen generation and organic pollutants removal. Formation of unique electron channels via the bridging of CoP with (200) and (220) crystal planes of Cd0.5 Mn0.5 S releases the hotelectrons irradiated by visible light to participate in the generation of hydrogen. Meanwhile, holes leaved in the Cd0.5 Mn0.5 S can degrade and mineralize organic pollutants into CO2 and H2 O. Moreover, various environmental factors have been considered to stimulate the practical conditions for simultaneous photocatalytic process. This work is anticipated to offer new enlightenment into designing dual-functional photocatalysts for the utilization of waste water. Highlights: A newly dual-functional photocatalyst (Cd0.5 Mn0.5 S/CoP) has been rationally designed. Cd0.5 Mn0.5 S/CoP composites exhibits superior H2 generation from waste water. Introduction of CoP releases the hotelectrons to generate H2 . Organic pollutants act significant role as electrons donors.
