- Abstract : A simple and accurate method is described for rapid differentiation of surgical and nonsurgical pneumoperitoneum by measuring the partial pressure of oxygen in intraperitoneal air with a blood gas analyser. Results in five ventilated neonates in whom this distinction was not possible by clinical or radiographic means are presented.
