- Abstract: A new series of boron complexes consisting of pyridine‐pyrazole ligands has been designed, synthesized and evaluated for its Raman activity using solid‐state Raman spectroscopy. The detailed surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) study of selected dye 2‐(3‐(pyridin‐4‐yl)‐1 H ‐pyrazol‐5‐yl) pyridine (P4 ) on gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) of size 40 nm revealed that it can detect as small as the nanomole level with signal quality that is superior to structurally similar commercially available reporter molecules (RMs), rendering it a suitable RM for sensitive SERS nanotags. Abstract : Raman reporter (RM) molecules based on boron complexes have been designed and synthesized, incorporating pyridine. The evaluation of the effectiveness of the synthesized compounds was performed using Raman spectroscopy with and without adsorption of the RMs onto gold nanoparticles (AuNPs size 40 nm). 2‐(3‐(Pyridin‐4‐yl)‐1 H ‐pyrazol‐5‐yl) pyridine (P4 ) with AuNPs gave a significant signal enhancement comparable with commercial RMs enabling nanomolar detection with signal quality superior to commercially available similar compounds.
